All I Want For Christmas

37% of children in London live in poverty.

We are experiencing the biggest threat to living standards this nation has seen in decades. The rising cost of living has taken a toll on our families, severely affecting their livelihoods.

Cost of Living Crisis

A mother with disabilities whom we support broke down after receiving an energy bill for £600. She told us:

“Most weeks, I'm lucky if I have £20 left in my account. I spent the whole summer dreading how I could afford to buy James* and Leah* a new school uniform. Now, on top of everything else, I can’t afford to charge my wheelchair. How am I supposed to take my children to school? I feel lost.”

THE PROBLEM

Our families can no longer afford to live.

This autumn, the average household will face an 80% increase in energy bills forcing parents to choose between feeding their children or keeping them warm. When parents phone us, they are crippled with fear, stress, and for some, feelings of suicide.

With families living on as little as £7 a week, parents can no longer afford to purchase necessities and keep up with large bills. In the past few months, we have witnessed a sharp rise in the number of children carrying the burden of their family’s financial situation. Shocking data released by The Independent found “stress and anxiety” among children to have reached “alarming” levels, with cases of children self-harming becoming more common due to the rise in bills.

Aviva Community Trust

To help us reach our target of £50,000, we have partnered with Aviva Community Trust in order to have the largest possible impact on the children and families we support. Thanks to the generosity of Aviva Community Trust, every donation we receive (up to £250) will be matched, meaning if you donate £250, we will receive £500.

OUR SOLUTION

STOP children from going hungry or cold this winter.

We have launched our biggest appeal yet, determined to raise £50,000 for over 200 of the most vulnerable families in West London. We will work closely with our families to help alleviate the financial hardship they face, by purchasing necessities they can no longer afford.

Your donation will help purchase:

  • Fresh food, nutritious meals, and baby formula (as most food banks are struggling to maintain their own supplies).

  • Essential warm winter clothing, including boots, jackets and gloves.

  • Hygiene products as period poverty currently affects nearly all of our young girls and mothers.

  • School uniforms (the average uniform costs £101 per child, making it unaffordable for our parents).

  • Household items, e.g. washing machines, kettles and cookers.

Take action today to help us restore hope in our children and their families.
