Nearly 200 people attended the celebration of the book launch of Kids Cook the World at Whole Foods Market, Kensington on Saturday 24th September. The launch was so popular, that copies of the book, signed by the children sold out in under an hour! The children were the stars of the show and gave speeches about healthy eating to the guests.

Guests were served tasty fruit smoothies made by children from Solidarity Sports and enjoyed learning more about the Kids Cook the World cookbook project. High profile guests at the launch included Councillor Julie Mills, Mayor of RBKC, the Jamaican High Commissioner, Mr Anthony Johnson, His Excellency José Mauricio Rodríguez Múnera, the Colombian Ambassador and Dr Jesus Fernández, the Education Counsellor of Spain to the UK.

"We in Jamaica support the movement for healthy food and we are very glad that Solidarity Sports are supporting this campaign – I want to congratulate you for bringing out this beautiful book."
His Excellency Mr Anthony Johnson, Jamaican High Commissioner.

"Congratulations to Solidarity Sports, this is a great initiative, a beautiful idea, a wonderful book that I will share with all the Colombian kids. This is a fantastic contribution, not only to gastronomy, but to international diplomacy!"
His Excellency José Mauricio Rodríguez Múnera, Ambassador of Colombia to the UK.

"It was a great honour and pleasure to share the event with you all. It was very moving."
Dr Jesus Fernández, the Education Counsellor of Spain to the UK.

Published in partnership with New Internationalist, Kids Cook the World is a delightful insight into the work of Solidarity Sports and includes recipes from 19 different countries. The book includes a foreword by the world's most influential chef Ferran Adrià and is described by Hell’s Kitchen chef Marco Pierre White as "beautiful and inspiring".

The 100 page full colour family cookbook is crammed with delicious meals from all over the world that represent and celebrate the diverse backgrounds and heritage of the young people that created it. All the recipes have been tested by the children and their families, and each dish is accompanied with a photograph alongside step-by-step pictures of the children creating them.

Sean Mendez, founder of Solidarity Sports explains, "Everyone had a fantastic time at the launch on Saturday and we are very proud of what the children have achieved. They all held their nerve to give some very moving speeches in front of a packed crowd. We would like to thank Whole Foods Market for their very generous support".
